California City has a mayor and council government. The council also serves as members of the Community Redevelopment Agency. A full time City Manager reports to the council, and manages the day to day business of the city. The departments of the city consist of airport, building, city clerk, fire, human resources, parks and recreation, planning, police, and public works.
